JELENA PUSKARICA
Dietitian in Training - University of Canberra
Jelena loves people, food and science. Her desire to help other people enjoy healthy food as much as does has led her to turn her back on a successful engineering career and return to studying. She is currently in her final year of a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Canberra and is excited to join the team at FEEDinc as a dietitian in training.
Being the mother of four busy and athletic children, while studying and attending full-time placements leaves little time for cooking. Jelena has mastered the art of preparing quick healthy meals and she would like to share this skill with her clients.
Jelena knows that preparing healthy nourishing meals can be easy, affordable and enjoyable and shouldn’t take much longer than driving around the corner to pick up takeaway. Her favourite meals are rich in colour and low in processed ingredients.
Jelena loves including her family in food preparation, a perfect opportunity for fun, social and educational time with her children. This reflects perfectly Jelena’s food philosophy: quick, tasty, colourful, healthy meals to be enjoyed and shared with family and friends.
Jelena believes that any diet, whether vegan, vegetarian or containing meat, has the potential to be healthy or unhealthy and she would like to help clients to make the best choices using food they truly enjoy. Creating healthy habits that will last a lifetime rather than restricting food, is Jelena’s goal for her clients.
In the future, Jelena would like to help people who have lost enjoyment of food due to disease or related treatments, such as oncology patients or clients who have a negative relationship with food. She also has a keen interest in gastro-intestinal disorders and how the foods we eat affect our gut and mood.
