Can I claim through Medicare or Private Health Insurance?
Can I claim through Medicare? Yes if you have a chronic condition you can claim Medicare with the new MBS item known as Medicare Plus. The item will cover Dietitian services delivered to patients with a chronic condition and complex care needs. A doctor's referral is required in this circumstance, so please speak with your GP before making an appointment. Medicare rebates are $51.95 per consultation with a maximum of (5) allied health visits per year. Complex and chronic medical conditions include: Diabetes, Obesity, Heart disease, Chronic pain, Depression, Arthritis, Cancer, Hypertension, Hypercholesterolemia, Osteoporosis, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Can I claim through private health insurance? Yes, consultations with a Dietitian are eligible for rebates under private health insurance cover. Check with your individual health insurance company to see what you can claim. Not all health insurance offers the same rebates for Allied Health.
Home visits available in Canberra (add $20 to consult to account for travel time and cost).
FEEDinc Dietitians are accredited service providers for DVA clientele. Please discuss with your medical practitioner to arrange a referral. Home visits are available, as are subsidised nutritional supplements by DVA for eligible veterans under the Repatriation Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (RPBA).
